THAI SCENTED DESSERT CANDLE (TIAN OP) FOR PERFUMING DESSERT
Description
Linked to the Thai royal palace cuisine, Tian Op is a scented Thai candle in a horse shoe shape with a wick and it is used in traditional Thai dessert to impart aromatic fragrance. The candle is typically lit in a covered container to "bake" or "smoke" a dessert or an ingredient. Thai chefs have re-popularized the use of this infusion technique to create a new twist for modern Thai desserts like coconut ice cream by smoking the coconut milk mixture before turning it into ice cream.
Tian op is infused with numerous ingredients also found in perfume and incense, like patchouli, ylang-ylang, mace oil, sandalwood, frankincense, and musk which imparts a complex blend of scented notes. The candle is not edible and should only be used to smoke or impart fragrance.
